Kurt Hammig grew up in a small village in Switzerland before his adventurous decision to start a new life in Florida, where he has been residing for the last 20 years. Throughout his life, Kurt's mother, who herself was a talented artist, encouraged him to paint, as a way of dealing with his depression. Experimenting with various supplies in expressing his visions in chalk, water colors and oil, he challenged himself with subjects such as landscapes, still lives, animals, as well as occasional personalized work for a friend.

Kurt found his true and current passion in the generous use of acrylic paints. He creates portraits that reflect life's challenges, in expressions, colors and brush strokes. The self taught artist finds comfort in composing paintings he can connect with and that include a piece of his own heart and soul.
